I attended the 4:30 Friday 3/19 screening of Falling for Grace and the  Q&A afterwards. The Big Cinema is located at 239 E. 59th Street on a  pleasant tree lined street in Manhattan close to the QueensboroBridge.  The theatre itself is newly compeletely remodeled. Unfortunately, there
was only about 40-50 people that attended the 4:30 screening, the 7:00  showing was sold out.

Gale was there for the Q&A along with Clem Cheung, who played Grace's  father, Stephanie Wang, one of the producers, and a publicity person (a  sharp, well spoken young woman) who led
the Q&A. Fay Ann was not there  due to her play. They all sat on the edge of the stage. Gale sat there casually with his  legs up on stage, legs crossed Indian style, leaning back. While the  others talked he sat there thorooughly involved. He wore dark shirt, no  tie, sports jacket, skinny jeans and huge shoes he had on for the tvinterview.

The PR person started out asking the others each a question. She askedd  Gale about the parts he had improvised and which he liked the best. He  answered kind of generally, until she prompted him about Speed Racer. He  said he loved Speed Racer as a kid and always wanted to go that fast
(mentioning a speed number I can't remember). She asked Clem about the  fact the he was originally going to die. He confirmed this saying that  in the scene where he tells Grace about naming her after Cinderella, he died. That was changed, however to make the movie more upbeat.

Here are some of the audience questions:

What about this project drew you to play the role of Andrew?
Gale: I  laughed out loud 4 or 5 times when I was reading the script. I thought  the story was pertinent. Being able to portray a character that is a  part of American society that controls things. Both of the main  characters are trying to walk away from something in this film.Andrew is waling away from the silver spoon that he was born to. He is not  satisfied with his life. That this was set in a romantic comedy.

Is it realistic that these two people would meet and fall in love? Why  is Andrew caucasian, wouldn't it haave made more sense for him to be Asian?
Gale: That is what love is all about--everything that makes sense goes  away! You love what
is inside a person.Due to the circumsatnces in the  story, these two people have an unusual opportunity to meet and get to  know one another. This could happen and does.

The refrigerator scene is my favorite scene. How do you prepare or  approach that type of scene (comedy) as compared to a more dramatic  scene? Would you like to do more comedies?
Gale: A little with the Chinese language, but gong into it I knew the  background, the joke, and the
misunderstanding--what was going on.I  would love to do more comedies!

The cost the film? 3 million
Gale added: Actually doing it on three million was an amazing  accomplishment, that included all the refilming, post production...

Gale was relaxed and interested throughout the Q&A and listened  carefully to the others responses, occassionaly adding his own comments.
