Melissa experiences sudden fits of anger: once awake, she pushes Nick away roughly, instead at school she gets smart with principal Chamberlain, but apologizes to her simulating a temporary indisposition.

Jane would like to improve her relationship with Cassie, so asks her about her new friends: the girl replies vaguely, afraid she might reveal something about the Circle. Later, Cassie confides to Diana she needs to be honest with her grandmother, but the girlfriend isn’t too fond of the idea: there is the risk the Elders may take back the powers of the new Circle, just like it happened to their parents; powerless, they couldn’t know the truth about the ‘accident’ of sixteen years before anymore.

Heather Barnes’ tragic death has raised an important question: how has it been possible for a woman in her state to leave home on her own? Charles and Dawn are worried about the kids, the Circle could have attracted unwanted attention, and, being without powers, they wouldn’t be able to protect their own children. That very night something could change: there will be Blood Moon, and the two of them decide to meet at Charles’ boat, 10 pm, to start a magic ritual together.

Melissa, driven by the demon possessing her, talks Nick into helping her to unearth a suitcase in the woods.

At dinner, Jane confides Cassie that she feels really guilty about not having understood in time the danger her daughter was in, and not having actually helped her. The woman hidesa big regret: she didn’t talk much to Amelia, she never let her daughter open up to her, so now pleads Cassie to avoid making the same mistake; the girl leaves her home to catch up with Melissa.

The possessed witch is gathering all the teens at the abandoned house, she needs the powers of the Circle to open the suitcase, closed due to a spell, but Adam and Diana don’t answer her call: they’re spending a romantic evening. Just for a few seconds the shape of a snake becomes visible under Melissa’s skin, and Cassie realizes that it’s the same thing that happened to Heather, so she must summon Diana and ask her grandmother Jane for help. Nick succeeds into making Melissa unconscious and blocking her.

On the boat, Charles and Dawn use magic to locate the 5 crystals missing in order to have their powers back, but fail the spell since the last crystal in their hands by now is spent. Charles thinks he can find another way to solve the problem, but Dawn is convinced that everything has come to an end: neither the Circle itself can bring the powers back without the crystals.

Melissa is able to free herself and threatens to kill Nick if the kids don’t open the suitcase, but Jane arrives in time to stop them and temporarily weaken the demon with her crystal. The grandmother asks the kids to prepare a spell to exorcise Melissa, but when the magic is effective, the woman discovers that the demon is no more in Melissa, but has found Nick as his host. The boy manages to run away.

Jane explains that the only ways to kill a demon are drowning or burning him, hence they decide to burn the suitcase to destroy the snake demons. Evil creatures need human bodies to possess to be completely functional and, since there is no human being stronger than a witch, their mission is to take advantage of the members of the Circle.

Nick calls Adam and reveals his intention to burn the Boathouse down and kill Ethan, if he won’t have the suitcase back, so Jane and the teens go to the place to stop him. The demon talks to Dawn, and she recognizes in Nick the presence of Abaddon, a demon summoned in the past by her. The woman demands him to keep off from the children, but Abaddon is determined to own the Circle and shares his decision of leaving Nick’s body to possess Dawn’s.

Dawn manages to get Nick following her and, while they’re directed to an isolated place, is able to make Charles aware of everything. The man finds them and knocks Nick senseless. Dawn is sure there is no other choice than drowning the demon for saving Nick and the children, so she persuades Charles to move the boy into the water. After a fight, the man succeeds into drowning Nick, and when Cassie and Jane arrive on the spot they find the young boy’s lifeless body.

Melissa, still confused about the happenings, is informed of Nick’s death by Faye.

Charles is devastated by having killed the boy, but Dawn maintains that he’s actually killed a demon menacing their life and their children’s; however, the man can’t give up his sense of guilt: killing a boy should never be the right thing to do.

The police have archived the case as an accident, claiming that Nick may have lost consciousness by falling into the sea, but Adam believes the friend has lost his life while trying to get rid of the demon inside him.

Cassie and Jane decide to tell each other all their secrets, and talk about the incident of sixteen years before: Jane doesn’t know what happened that night, but knows that the magic is dangerous and how much it does attract Darkness: that’s the reason why Amelia wanted to keep it away from Cassie.

Charles is on the boat and still tormented; in the meantime, Diana and Adam console each other, while Faye tries to support Melissa.
